In Australia, sport is an important part of the country’s culture and dates back to the early colonial period. Running is currently the most popular individual sport with more than a million participants, and the community organisation Parkrun has registered more than a million Australian participants since 2011.
So, when the opportunity arose to visit ASICS, the number one running shoe brand down under, we were on our marks to get set and go!
When ASICS Oceania moved to a new warehouse in Sydney, it chose our client Vanderlande* as its logistic process automation partner. The facility opened in Marsden Park in 2019, and has been transformed via two automation projects that enable the company to service its wholesale, retail and e-commerce customers. The move has also increased capacity and improved operational efficiency.
The project didn’t disappoint from the moment we arrived. A factory shop shares the same car park as the distribution centre, and a display adorns the reception area with the apparel supplied by ASICS to the Australian rugby union and cricket teams, as well as the current National Rugby League champions, the Brisbane Broncos.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to our local hero, Roald, for arranging access to the facility and guiding us through the visit, and Vicky for her trademark product knowledge and enthusiasm for all things Vanderlande. She also deserves a medal for arranging our schedule for a whistle-stop tour to shoot our highlights of the Sydney area.
* Vanderlande’s warehousing business is part of Toyota Automated Logistics from 1 April 2026
