Down on the farm

The healthy outdoor lifestyle of Australians is something for which the country is renowned, and that in part explains the growth of Harris Farm Markets. That success is set to continue with the company’s investment in a Vanderlande* cross-dock sorting solution at its new warehouse in Sydney.

RED’s goal was to capture content to depict the quick and efficient movement of an extensive range of fruit and vegetables, and other perishables to the Harris Farm Markets stores.

The company opened its first store in 1971 with a focus on working with small suppliers who provide high-quality fresh produce. The family-owned concern now employs around 3,000 people and operates 35 stores in New South Wales, Queensland and Australian Capital Territory (ACT) – all serviced by the 17,000m2 warehouse, located in the Sydney suburb of Greystanes.

As part of our visit, we were invited to shoot one of Harris Farm Markets’ flagship stores at Lane Cove, which was a fascinating experience. It was intriguing to see behind the scenes, including a delivery of goods from the warehouse and how hard the team works to ensure second-to-none presentation of produce on the shop floor.

Our appreciation goes out to Angus Harris and his team for making us feel so welcome and his insights into what makes the business such a unique retailer. As a result, we were able to produce a high level of content to complement the company’s brand image and shopping experience, as well as its partnership with Vanderlande.
