As part of our ten-year anniversary celebrations, the RED team has picked out our favourite RED project over the past decade.
This month, Kerrie takes a trip down memory lane and looks back on a unique trip to France.
One of my favourite stories from almost ten years at RED is about elephants. Or rather two inspiring and dedicated zookeepers, pursuing their dream of building a retirement home for former circus performers of the pachyderm variety.
Set in a remote corner of France, it’s a tale of: perseverance, drive and determination; the wonder of people power; and the big guys helping the little guys. And of course, a plot-twisting global pandemic, just as they’re ready to welcome their first inhabitants.
You can pick up the story so far with our podcast here – it features exclusive interviews with Sofie Goetghebeur and Tony Verhulst, and their amazing endeavour to create Europe’s first elephant sanctuary.
