Five minutes with… Paul

We grab an espresso and catch up with Paul Farmer to see what’s happening in his RED world…

Q: Describe your typical day.

I wish I could! It usually starts and ends with a dog walk and some quality time with the family, but anything else could happen in between.

Q: Tell us about some of the highlights from your time at RED.

Personally, having the opportunity to visit some of my favourite countries has been a highlight. These have included Norway and Switzerland, as well as other locations in North America and Asia.

I also get tremendous satisfaction from seeing people develop at RED, watching them reach personal milestones, and generally enjoying their work. Attached to that, another highlight is sharing positive feedback from our clients as a team.

Q: How would you describe your approach to work?

On a daily basis, I aim to ensure that everyone is happy (both the clients and the team) and that we have the capacity to achieve our targets. Attention to detail is key, and I strive for perfection regardless of the size of the brief. Above all, it’s about being professional, yet having fun and I adhere to the statement, “love what you do, do what you love”.

Q: What do you do to relax?

I enjoy many pursuits outside of RED. To begin with, spending time with my family and seeing the children enjoying their own activities is fantastic. We enjoy our annual holidays together at home and abroad, which also satisfies my passion for adventure and travel.

Back at home, our two Springer Spaniels – Bracken and Bramble – keep me busy, but if there’s any time to spare I indulge in my passion for music, movies, photography, good food and fine wine.

I’m also a huge sports fan and as a life-long supporter of Manchester United I have a season ticket to Old Trafford. You’ll also find me proudly cheering on the Northern Ireland football team, as well as the Irish and Ulster rugby squads!

Q: What advice would you give to someone who’s interested in an agency position?

As with other positions in any industry, work hard! Try to gain as much experience as possible across the entire marketing mix and be driven by the quality of your work. In addition, be professional, open and honest at all times, and friendly to everyone you encounter.
