Five minutes with… Andy

We grab an espresso and take five minutes with our Account Manager Andy Lynch to find out what’s happening in his RED world…

Q: Describe your typical day.

Too hard, there is no typical day! That’s one of the best things about being at RED, the variety. I remember one day in particular last year, I had to draw up a movie storyboard in the morning, interview a company board member at lunchtime and write a magazine article in the afternoon. I guess the one constant thing is the amazing people I work with, they are such a talented and hilarious bunch.

Q: Tell us about some of the highlights from your time at RED.

Spending a week in Greenland to make a client movie was unbelievable. However, in general, seeing the final versions of our materials gives me tremendous satisfaction. Whether it is a news story, a press release, a brochure or a movie, it is always rewarding to see your efforts come to fruition. Meeting new people who are passionate about what they do is also great fun.

Q: How would you describe your approach to work?

I try and attack everything with relentless positivity and enthusiasm, whether it’s a small job or something large scale. If you go into everything believing you can do it successfully, that’s usually half the battle won. In reality, you never stop learning, so I take stock of everything that’s gone well – or not – and try to keep sharpening my game.

Q: What do you do to relax?

Taking day trips with the Lynch clan is always top of the list, whether it’s city hopping or a day at the beach. I’m also quite social, so anything connected to live theatre, sport or music really interests me.

Q: What advice would you give to someone who’s interested in an agency position?

For me self-belief should be the biggest thing to keep in your locker. Know where your strengths are, and don’t be afraid of failure. Also, because of the nature of the work, I think it’s important to grab every opportunity with both hands – you never know where it might lead.
