December is upon us and it’s time for businesses to start considering their digital marketing goals and strategies for the year ahead.
Before you can think about the following 12 months, it’s important to consider emerging digital trends. We wanted to help give you the best possible start, so here’s what you can expect from 2017…
Social media
Images and video – particularly 360˚ and live streaming – will dominate social media as users reach for more visually-led, real-time experiences. Making your followers feel like they’re closely connected to your brand and part of the experience is more important now than ever.
Live stream technology is quickly evolving and connection speeds (internet or mobile) are getting faster, so there will be more pressure for brands to produce good-quality live streams for their audiences.
Email is still regarded as one of the most effective ways of getting a message across to your audience. Research shows that it is the fastest growing channel for marketing ROI (Econsultancy and Adestra).
The mobile optimisation of email campaigns and newsletters is going to be vital, especially since millennials are the group most likely to open marketing emails. Campaigns should also be more integrated – although this will apply to all your marketing collateral in 2017. Campaigns shouldn’t be limited to one medium, but work seamlessly across multiple channels.
Content
The volume of content being produced is increasing. Are your competitors creating more content (news, blogs, etc) than you? It’s time to keep up the pace – although this should never be done at the expense of quality.
The effectiveness of CTAs in businesses online content was highlighted in a Drift study recently. If you don’t have the resources to create more content without sacrificing quality, this is a good area to concentrate on.
