The Czech Republic is not famous for its abundant sunshine in Spring. However, that’s just what the RED team got on a visit to the country on behalf of Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) NV (HCME).

An historic trip

On this occasion, Andy and Jon were not on location to bask in the glorious weather. Joined by friends from HCME, the guys were asked to check out two machines from Hitachi’s latest Zaxis-6 range.

It was an historic trip for the team and they were welcomed for the first time by the Czech Republic’s authorised Hitachi dealer – NET. First up, was a trek to a quarry nestling in the Central Bohemian region, to the north of Prague.

A ZX490LCH-6 large excavator looked very much at home on site, near the town of Veltrusy. As always, the RED crew worked hard to gather the usual mix of movies, photography and written materials.

Connoisseurs of architecture would certainly be impressed by the nearby Veltrusy Mansion. Built in the 18th-Century, this remarkable château overlooks the area.

A popular machine

Next up for the guys was a visit to the D1 highway. Stretching over 350km, it’s one of the most important roads in the Czech Republic. A road-widening project was in full swing when the team arrived on site.

At the heart of the action was a brand new ZX300LC-6 medium excavator. The machine was proving so popular with its operator, that he’d even given it a pet name! It was also inspiring to see how efficiently work was being completed on what was a nationally important development.

Location scout – Prague

In their rare moments of downtime, Andy and Jon were lucky enough to take in Prague’s Old Town. A visit to the astronomical clock was a stand-out, while some traditional Czech cuisine could be found at the U Dvou Sester restaurant nearby.

As always, RED had fantastic assistance during their time in the Czech Republic. A huge thank you goes to everyone at NET and HCME for their support.
