A Yorkshire Day tribute: must-visit spots recommended by us

As a proud Yorkshire based marketing agency it’s only right that we celebrate Yorkshire Day! To mark the occasion we wanted to share our favourite places in Yorkshire (other than our RED HQ in South Cave of course) so others can enjoy the many amazing places this county has to offer:

York

“York is my hometown, and I have to admit when I was growing up there I thought it was pretty boring. But as an adult, I can now see why it’s such a popular destination for holidaymakers and (sadly) those making merry on a stag or hen weekend. It’s a small, compact city so everything is accessible on foot. Step back in time and visit York Minster or Clifford’s Tower – and take a walk around the Bar Walls. There are also a number of very interesting museums and an art gallery to enjoy. When you need to have a rest, you can choose from literally hundreds of pubs, bars and cafés.” – Steve

Howden

“There are so many great places to visit in Yorkshire, and we like to keep our lively toddler busy at weekends – visiting the seaside or different children’s museums and role play villages. With that being said, our ‘hometown’ Howden is my favourite place to spend time. Our perfect day at home would start with a visit to the ducks in the marsh, followed by a brunch bagel and smoothie at our local cafe and a visit to the park. We’ll finish off the afternoon by walking around the ashes with ice cream from the parlour, then get the paddling pool and BBQ out in the garden.” – Nicole

Yorkshire Wolds Way

“I can’t narrow my favourite place down to one location, because my family of five (and two dogs) has had the pleasure of walking 79 miles along the Yorkshire Wolds Way between Hessle and Filey – and it was quite a surprise. We often travel far and wide and yet the natural beauty around us is often left unexplored. The peace and quiet of the Yorkshire Wolds area offer a special landscape, with a combination of hidden and lush green dry chalk valleys and wide open field tops. Some of the best views stretch out for miles and miles, never mind the wildlife (especially the red kites hovering above) and some of the dramatic artworks (under the theme of WANDER).” – Paul

Roundhay Park

“Roundhay Park is one of the largest city parks in Europe, and a few miles from where I live. Since we moved to Leeds 16 years ago, we’ve spent many happy days here as a family and meeting up with friends. We’ve enjoyed food festivals, outdoor film screenings, live music, kids’ football matches and even Junior Parkrun – but mostly, it’s just nice to wander around while eating an ice cream. I think the lakes, woodland and gardens are beautiful to explore any time of the year.” – Kerrie

Malham Cove

“Walks around here feel like you’re in a movie, which is no surprise since Malhamdale has been the inspiration and location for many books, TV shows and films over the years including Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Netflix’s The Witcher and inspiration for Tolkien’s Helm’s Deep. Not only is Malhamdale lovely to walk through with its streams, rustic pubs and waterfalls, but (if you can manage the steep walk) the view from the top of Malham Cove is breathtaking – nothing to do with being out of breath of course!” – Becca
